What do we mean from e-learning? If we ask this question to someone from west we must get straight to our answer but the people in third world countries are still not completely known to the technology that bring training to our doorstep. E learning is defined as learning through computer via internet.

E learning doesn't essentially restricted to awarding degrees to students but its meaning is broadened every time it is used as in case of businesses when training is given to employees it is also the part of e-learning. In proper universities which follow regular class's framework for their studies also use internet to deliver course and lectures in conjunction with the classroom learning. El-earning is now a fast growing field and gaining its recognition in the field of research very fast.

If we have to explain e learning we can take example s from different authors as Luskin states that from E we can mean that it stands for exciting, expressive, educational, extended, excellent and last but not least the electronic way of learning but one thing remains sure that learning is enough convenient and flexible through the use of internet.

How this was made so smooth and convenient this must be the question in many minds. Answer to this question lies in that there is no one element to run a process. There comes a platform, a software, standards and rules to govern the whole process. So LMS act as platform while SCORM act as a set of principles to aid the communication between the tutor and the student.

SCORM was the project sponsored by DOD and it was there to standardise the process of e learning and make its compatibility more with the various LMS. Many universities now offer on line training through various versions of SCORM using LMS. Many degrees and certificates are also offered through online training. This was made possible because with the development in SCORM versions now online assessment of student and their work can be done to grade their degrees.

E-learning is also facilitating in e business as this SCORM material is sold over the internet and gives an innovative way of doing business with less cost. Advising and counselling is also the part of the business.
